5 Awesome Private Jets Coming to the Skies in 2023 – Key Highlights Include King-Size Beds, Longer Flight Distances, and Even a Skylight
The private jet market is set to reach record heights, with sales of pre-owned and new private jets forecast to hit $34.6 billion this year, up from $34.1 billion last year. While the pre-owned jet market remains strong, several brand-new jets are arriving in the near future.
5) HondaJet 2600
Following the success of its very light jet, the HondaJet Elite II, the manufacturer has set its sights on the transcontinental market. Their latest is designed to be the world’s first light jet capable of nonstop transcontinental flight across the United States, with room to accommodate up to 11 passengers.
Coming in at around $12 million, the HondaJet 2600 will be able to fly up to 2,625 nautical miles with a maximum cruise speed of 450 knots and a maximum ceiling of 47,000 feet. It will also feature a “class-leading cabin altitude” of 6,363 ft to provide a more comfortable journey. The cabin will feature a modular design, making it customizable for multiple customer uses. Autothrottle and auto-brake technology could make it the first transcontinental jet that a single pilot can fly.
4) Bombardier Global 8000
The new fastest private jet is also expected to hit the skies soon. Canadian aerospace company Bombardier announced its new Global 8000 jet, which offers an 8,000 nautical mile range and a top operating speed of Mach 0.94. The aircraft is designed to hold 19 passengers and includes features like an optional 40-inch 4K home-theatre surround-sound setup and the first-ever zero-gravity seats.
With the range to fly on city pairs, including Dubai-Houston, Singapore-Los Angeles, and London-Perth, it is designed to become an indispensable part of private and business travel. A demonstrator aircraft recently broke the sound barrier during test flights. Accompanied by a NASA-operated Boeing F-18 fighter in May 2021, the jet repeatedly achieved speeds of Mach 1.015, becoming the first Transport Category aeroplane to fly supersonically using SAF.
Current Global 7500 operators will even be able to retrofit their aircraft to experience the performance enhancements on the Global 8000 aircraft.
3) The ACJ TwoTwenty
First announced in 2002, the ACJ TwoTwenty will fill a business jet market gap for seating many passengers. The aircraft is based on the Airbus A220-100 and configured with additional fuel tanks to provide a range of up to 5,650 nautical miles and a flight time of 12 hours.
Costing $82 million, the aircraft comes with a broad selection of available cabin options. Airbus even opened a creative design space in Toulouse, allowing customers to visualize their interiors tangibly. Key features include lay flat seats, a dining table for up to eight, and room for a king-size bed in the bedroom suite, complete with an en-suite bathroom and rain shower.
2) Gulfstream G700
Designed for ultra-long-haul flights, the Gulfstream G700 has a range of 7,500 nautical miles at Mach 0.85, or 6,400 nautical miles at Mach 0.90, with a top speed almost reaching the sound barrier at Mach 0.925. The cabin features five distinct living areas and can accommodate up to 19 passengers, with sleeping arrangements for thirteen.
The jet’s launch customer is Qatar Airways Executive, which ordered ten examples of the aircraft for its fleet of business jets. This aircraft is being created especially with business travellers in mind and features 20 extra-large windows to improve natural lighting and an innovative circadian lighting system to reduce jetlag.
Powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, the G700 is designed to be compatible with SAF for reduced emissions. In May, it set a speed record using SAF, travelling from Savannah to Tokyo at an average speed of Mach 0.89.
1) Dassault Falcon 6X
Made by French aviation stalwart Dassault, the Falcon 6x is expected later this year. The private jet features 1,843 square feet of cabin space and will set the bar high with the tallest and widest cabin in business aviation. Coming in at six feet and six inches in height (1.98 meters), and eight feet and six inches in width (2.59 meters), the 6X will allow passengers to freely move around the cabin without stooping.
The jet has a range of 5,500 NM and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.90. It can also fly Mach .85 for nonstop flights up to 5,100 NM, connecting cities like Los Angeles to Geneva, São Paulo to London, or Paris to Johannesburg. Designed with forward compatibility in mind, the aircraft will also be compatible with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
This is not the only jet coming from Dassault soon. The upcoming Falcon 10x is set to roll out in 2025 and will be capable of flying a up to 7,500 nautical miles at Mach 0.85.
