Saudi Arabia records 541 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

Saudi Arabia on Monday recorded 541 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, marking the highest number of single-day infections in the Kingdom in many months.

According to the Ministry of Health, six more people died from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 388,866 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,656.

The ministry also reported 357 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 377,304

The single-day infections in the Riyadh region topped the 200-mark for the fifth consecutive day after many months, with 217 new cases recorded on Sunday.

The capital region was followed by the Eastern region with 108 cases and the Makkah region with 86 new infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just four of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 4,906 active cases and 674 of them were in critical condition.
