Saudi Arabia: Hajj Pilgrims Gather on Mount Arafat
Hundreds of thousands of Muslim pilgrims crowded onto Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia. The ritual is the high point of the annual hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, which officials say could be the biggest on record after three years of COVID restrictions.
Over 2 million pilgrims gathered in Mecca for the pinnacle day of the Hajj pilgrimage, on Tuesday. Mount Arafat is where the Prophet Muhammad gave his final sermon, about 1,400 years ago.
