The Philippine Health Ministry reported the first six cases of the Covid-19 South African variant on Tuesday.
Three of the cases were detected locally and two were returning from overseas. The origin of the last case has not yet been verified.
The Philippines has so far found 87 cases with the more transmissible variant.
