Bahrain Pavilion at Venice Biennale of Architecture Exhibition Opens Today

The 18th edition of Venice Biennale of Architecture exhibition kicks off today, Thursday, in Venice, Italy. People from around the world will be able to explore the innovative vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain by visiting its pavilion named “Wet Origins”.

While the official opening of the event will take place today, the exhibition will open its doors to the public on May 20 to get a taste of this unique experience. Bahrain’s pavilion will continue to receive its visitors until November 26.

The kingdom’s participation in Venice Biennale of Architecture will explore the possibility of availing of the cooling and air conditioning systems in Bahrain in innovative and creative ways in order to benefit from its capabilities to condense water and, then, use it in creating eco-friendly environments and achieve more balance between the urban development projects and the natural environment.

The pavilion displays an installed miniature model of a local climatic environment and shows the public the possibility of implementing urban applications which have no existence yet. The aim is to improve the infrastructure while taking into consideration the unique climatic conditions of the Kingdom of Bahrain, like high temperature and humidity. A documentary will be shown on this topic and a book, entitled “Wet Origins” will be inaugurated for the public.
