Bahrain: EWA To Launch Mobile App For Raising And Tracking Requests

The Minister for Electricity and Water Affairs, HE Yasser Humaidan, has announced the forthcoming launch of a novel mobile application developed by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA).

This application, designed to be user-friendly, will facilitate the submission and tracking of electricity and water service requests by citizens and will remain accessible around the clock.

The authority aims to fast-track service delivery, he added. Under the visionary leadership of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, this initiative seeks to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of public services for both citizens and residents.

Humaidan emphasised EWA’s efforts towards digital transformation and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.

Its holistic digital transformation agenda includes several innovative systems, such as a modernised billing and customer service platform, sophisticated geographic information systems, and an intelligent metre management system.

Integration efforts with other governmental platforms relevant to building permits and planning have significantly cut down the time required to establish electricity and water connections.

EWA has put in place a service level for all citizen-centric services. These levels guarantee the timely delivery of electricity and water services, adhering to established performance metrics.

A suite of developmental initiatives has been rolled out, designed to simplify the citizen’s journey through bureaucratic processes and to elevate the caliber of service.

Ongoing development

The Minister also highlighted the ongoing development of a mobile app that empowers citizens to lodge and oversee their requests at any given moment. Additionally, novel services have been introduced on the e-government portal, eliminating the need for prior appointments.

These services cover applications for electric metres and water sub-metres for new establishments, as well as technical service requests for existing properties.

EWA has recently expanded its horizons, syncing rhythms with other governmental platforms and offering subscribers a constellation of channels to initiate and track their requests, from the e-government portal to the Benayat system, from the communications centre to per- sonal visits, and from the official EWA website to the dedicated mobile app.

Convenient options

This expansion provides subscribers with convenient options for engagement.

The minister confirmed that EWA manages the implementation of electricity and water infrastructure projects for residential developments, following the selection of certified contractors and the acquisition of materials that meet the authority’s standards and the requirements set by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

After the construction phase, EWA takes over the operation of the networks for these residential projects.
