Bahrain: EWA Seeks Legal Firms To Recover Unpaid Electricity Bills

If you have outstanding electricity bills, legal action may be on the horizon. The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) is moving forward with plans to engage legal firms to assist in the collection of arrears from subscribers.

This initiative aims to recover unpaid electricity and water bills, as well as municipal fees owed by consumers. The board has launched a tender, inviting interested bidders to participate.

This move comes amidst efforts to streamline revenue collection processes and ensure the financial stability of the authority. The scope of services includes the collection of arrears related to electricity and water bills, along with municipal fees.

Legal experts are free to employ various methods, including litigation if necessary, to recover the owed amounts.

By leveraging the expertise of legal professionals, the EWA aims to optimize the collection process and expedite the recovery of outstanding dues.

Interested law firms are encouraged to participate in the bidding process to secure the contract for providing legal services.

Successful firms will receive a four-year contract. Those interested are advised to submit their bids before the closing date of the 22nd of this month.

Bids should be accompanied by a BD2500 bond with 180 days’ validity. Alternate bids are not allowed.

The initial bond should be in the form of a Certified Cheque, Bank Guarantee, Insurance Policy, or Cash (or as specified in the Tender Documents) valid for the specified duration.
