Bahrain to face Oman in Arabian Gulf 25 semifinals on Monday

Bahrain has qualified for the semifinals of the Arabian Gulf 25 following its 1-1 draw with Kuwait in the last Group B match.

Bahrain, with 7 points from two wins over the United Arab Emirates and Qatar and the draw against Kuwait, topped the group and will on Monday play for the final against Oman that came second in Group A.

In the other semifinal, Iraq, the Group A leader, will face Qatar that qualified as second in Group B with four points following its last-minute draw against the UAE.

Against Kuwait, Bahrain put out another outstanding performance although its strikers missed several chances to score and win the match.

Mahdi Humaidan scored Bahrain’s goal midway through the first half, ensuring that the national team scored in all its three group matches.

Kuwait scored the equalizer in the last minute of the first half by Shabeeb Al Khalidi who took advantage of hesitations in the Bahraini defence.

The last 15 minutes of the game were dominated by Bahrain, but the players could not put the ball in the Kuwaiti nets.
