Kuwait reports 39,969 coronavirus cases and 240 deaths in March

In March, Kuwait reported the highest number of cases and COVID-19 related deaths in a single month since the start of the pandemic.

Despite the partial curfew enforced on March 7 to reduce the spread of the virus, the Ministry of Health recorded 39,969 cases and 240 COVID-19 related deaths.

The peak of highest recorded cases in a single day was on March 4, where the total number of positive cases was 1,716. As for COVID-19 related deaths, on March 23 Kuwait reported that there were 13 deaths.

Hospitals also saw a surge in COVID-19 patients, especially in the past few days where the occupancy rate jumped to 26.2 per cent.

In addition, patients undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) increased drastically, especially on March 28 where the number of ICU patients reached 251; the highest occupancy rate since the start of the pandemic.
