Bahrain: Two Schoolgirls Suffer From ‘Domestic Violence’
The Ministry of Education has reported a case of domestic violence towards two girls in a government school, according to a statement released yesterday.
The incident came to light when a teacher in one of the elementary classes noticed visible bruises on the hand of a girl in her class.
Upon questioning her older sister, it was revealed that they had been subjected to severe physical abuse at home.
“In response to this distressing situation, the Ministry has initiated the necessary procedures to prepare the required reports in accordance with its policies and established procedures.
The aim is to refer the matter to the appropriate legal authorities. Additionally, the Ministry is ensuring that adequate psychological and educational support is provided to the affected children,” the Ministry said in a statement, adding that: “These measures are being taken to safeguard the health and well-being of the children and to prevent any negative impact on their academic progress,” Cases of domestic violence have serious consequences on the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of children.
The Ministry of Education is working in collaboration with relevant authorities and organisations to combat domestic violence and promote a culture of respect, care, and support within families.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to maintain open lines of communication with their children, to create an environment where they feel safe and comfortable sharing their concerns.
