Dubai workers have been told to work from home wherever possible on Monday, February 12 amid concerns over unstable weather and rain.

Employees of all government entities in the city will switch to remote working practices, while schools have been told to consider remote learning on Monday.

Instructions for remote working for government employees were issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

“This applies to all government employees in #Dubai, except for roles that need on-site presence at the workplace.”

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology has forecast rain and unstable weather for parts of the country on Monday, February 12.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has asked schools to provide distance learning for pupils.

In an effort to safeguard students and staff at private schools, nurseries and universities the KHDA said provisions should be made for unpredictable weather.

In a post on social media, it said: “With unpredictable weather predicted, we ask all Dubai private schools, nurseries, and universities to be flexible when considering the needs of parents, staff and students and provide the option of distance learning on Monday, February 12. Stay safe everyone”.

In a post on social media, the Ministry of Interior said it was ready to deal with challenges brought on by changing weather.

It said: “The Ministry of Interior affirms its readiness and preparedness in dealing with the drop in temperature.

“The Ministry prioritises the safety of society and the protection of lives and property. It urges the public to exercise caution, remain vigilant and observe safety requirements and guidelines.

“The public is further urged to avoid spreading rumours and to seek information and updates exclusively from the official sources.”
